German Franciscan historian and researcher. Entering the Order in 1933, he received his doctorate in Cologne (1947), lecturing and publishing on Franciscan literature, religious life and history during the rest of his career. A member of the Collegio S. Bonaventura at Grottaferrata (1967-77), he published important editions and studies of the writings of Francis.
