About the Author

Hugh of Digne (ca. 1205- ca. 1256)

From a merchant family of Provence, he joined the Friars Minor in 1236. Noted as a preacher, he studied the writings of Abbot Joachim of Fiore, and left works on questions of evangelical poverty and a commentary on the Franciscan Rule.
