An early companion of Francis of Assisi in 1209, he accompanied the saint on preaching journeys, later travelling as a pilgrim to Santiago de Compostela and to Rome. His later years were spent in Perugia. Though he was not an educated man, his "sayings" were collected by his companions, and show a simple mysticism and wisdom.
