PurchaseFrom Novara in the Lombardy region of Italy, he was an influential Master at Paris in the cathedral school of Notre Dame, wrote several commentaries on Biblical books, and served briefly as Bishop of Paris before his death (1259-60). His four books of Sentences examined theological topics using extensive citations from Scriptural and Patristic sources and became a standard textbook of theology for several centuries.
